Steel Casting

Casting is the entire process of creating new parts through the use of liquid metal that is poured into a mold of specific shape and then cooled and solidified. The solidified part of this procedure is known as casting.

The casting process is used to create complex parts that would be difficult or even more costly to manufacture by other methods.

Today, the most used techniques are: lost wax casting, lost foam casting, sand casting and die casting. In addition, there are several materials that can go through the casting process such as iron, steel and stainless steel.

Steel casting

Steel castings are widely used in various industry segments, mainly due to their versatility, and it is possible to produce parts of large varieties, shapes and dimensions with reasonable mechanical strength and toughness and a relatively low cost.

Steel castings can be divided into two categories: low alloy steels (with less than 8% alloys) and high alloy steels (with alloys 8% or more).

Stainless Steel Casting

Stainless steel casting is the most popular, since parts made of this material provide strength and shock resistance.

There are five types of stainless steel and, just like the types of iron, it is important to know the characteristics of each of them to find the best raw material for your casting - according to your needs and uses.

Stainless steel is an alloy of iron and chromium, which may also contain molybdenum, nickel and other elements whose physico-chemical properties are superior to ordinary steels.
